Dr Richard Jones tell us why he participated in THE HIV STORY PROJECT…

RJ: I was the subject of one of the pieces in the documentary and wrote the narration. I was filmed, and submitted photos from my past and also of six men important in my life who died of AIDS. I felt that participating would shed light upon a very difficult time, now nearly forgotten by the gay community. My initial goal was to paint an accurate picture of the AIDS epidemic, as I lived it. The actual experience was bittersweet, but worthwhile. It felt both sad and precious, to relive those years so long ago.

In the future, I hope that the film can capture a large audience and bring attention to the struggle which has improved the lives and healthcare procedures for our people. It was not an easy fight!
